The son of an animal hoarder dropped off nearly 500 parakeets to a southeast Michigan rescue shelter soon right before Xmas, and programs to return later on with at the very least 50 a lot more birds.

Kelley LeBonty, director of the Detroit Animal Welfare Group, which operates a shelter on a 25-acre farm in Macomb County’s Bruce Township, claimed in an interview Saturday that the son identified as to say he was coming to surrender 60 to 80 parakeets that ended up at his father’s dwelling.

But when the son arrived at the shelter late Thursday evening, he basically experienced 497 parakeets in his pickup.

“He had them all in seven cages,” LeBonty mentioned. “A quite tight fit. They were type of on top of every single other and smothering each other. … They had been very pretty stressed. They were being barely shifting. We experienced to get them out and into various cages.”
