Just about every calendar year, around 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Culture for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are pet dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Each individual week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To test the position of a certain animal, remember to speak to the shelter immediately.

With massive, beautiful brown eyes and a smiley face, how could anyone say no to this 2-calendar year-old Labrador Retriever blend? Wonderful Maya is just 1 of the hundreds of pups that designed their way to the Arizona Humane Modern society in January as wounded strays.

The cute pup was addressed in AHS’ trauma medical center for minimal wounds and a pup chilly prior to becoming adopted. Unfortunately, Maya discovered her way again to the shelter a second time just after her adopter’s landlord nixed the strategy of having a pet in the home. This is a fantastic reminder to make sure to do the proper exploration encompassing adopting a furry mate prior to producing the determination.
